What Are the Potential Uses of Blockchain in North Bund?
2020 Wanxiang Blockchain Hackathon, boasting challenging topics and generous rewards, is taking place from Oct.23rd to 25th.
This year’s main topic is Innovating North Bund with Blockchain+. We expect talented contestants from home and abroad to propose innovative and feasible solutions to innovate North Bund, the most promising area in Hongkou District, Shanghai, China with the convergence of blockchain and other digital technologies like 5G, AI, IoT, etc.
To help you prepare for this competition, we will give you some basic information about North Bund and inspire you with the challenges facing this area.
About North Bund
Located at the south of Hongkou District, Shanghai, China, North Bund occupies an area of 4 km², 3.3km² of which is land. Together with Lujiazui and the Bund, North Bund makes the Golden Triangle of Shanghai, the most promising area that attracts political and economic forces around the world.
North Bund has long been empowering its development with cutting-edge technologies like 5G, IoT etc. and has considered blockchain as the key to its transformation and upgrade. How to upgrade the model of organization and cooperation as well as accelerate the modernization of this area through the innovative integration of blockchain and other new technologies like Big Data, Cloud Computing, AI, etc. has been put high on the agenda.

Data islands are making the governance of communities very inefficient. Is it possible to improve the efficiency of data sharing and tap into the largest potential of data by converging blockchain and IoT? If so, do you have any feasible solutions to make this idea come true? Or do you have better ideas to solve this problem with blockchain? We are looking forward to hear your voice!
2. E-Government
Separate systems in the charge of government at different levels have led to a high cost in system construction and maintenance as well as communication among different parties. How to facilitate efficient sharing of data and other resources among different departments of one government or even government at different levels with one system? Will blockchain or the convergence of blockchain and other technologies be the right answer? Your ideas on these questions will be highly appreciated!
3. Building Economics
Building Economics has a large bearing on the transformation and upgrade of North Bund, a modern area full of enterprises and skyscrapers. In this connection, we encourage contestants to come up with innovate solutions to empower Building Economics with blockchain and create a favorable environment for enterprises to flourish in this industry.
4. City Governance
Multi-players and complicated procedures are making the governance of North Bund facing high cost and low efficiency. How can we make the best of the decentralized and tamper-proof features of blockchain to facilitate data sharing and cooperation under the scenario of city governance? That is a question for all ambitious contestants to answer!
5. Smart Elderly Care Industry
Population ageing is an irreversible trend around the globe, increasing the demand for the elderly care services. How to improve the quality of seniors’ life in an all-round way with the innovative integration of blockchain and other new technologies like IoT, AI, etc.? How to make the elderly care services more accessible to all seniors? We would like to invite talented contestants to share their solutions in 2020 Wanxiang Blockchain Hackathon!
6. Smart Building of the Communist Party of China
Building the Communist Party of China in a smart way has become a major concern. The key lies in solving problems facing the party with advanced technologies. Therefore, we hope that contestants may propose innovative solutions to make the party more digitalized and intelligent through blockchain.
Apart from the main topic of innovating North Bund with blockchain and other digital technologies, sponsors will release more exciting challenges and prizes during the competition.
