2022 Web3.0 Bootcamp, Co-hosted by Wanxiang Blockchain Labs and Web3 Foundation, Kicks Off

On the evening of May 24, the opening ceremony of 2022 Web3.0 Bootcamp was livestreamed globally via Wanxiang Blockchain’s Bilibili liveroom. Gavin Wood, Founder of Polkadot and Chairman of the Web3 Foundation, Du Yu, Vice Manager of Wanxiang Blockchain and Manager of Wanxiang Blockchain Labs,Anthony Day, VP Ecosystem Stewardship of Parity, Helena, Head of Parity Asia Pacific, Wang Rui, Researcher of Wanxiang Blockchain Labs and representatives of the 11 selected teams, including beoble,Cumulus Encrypted Storage System (CESS),Gear, Hamster, Meta Defender, Polkadot Name System,Relation,SaaS3,Universaldot.me,Web3Games and Web3Go (in alphabetic order) joined the ceremony online.

Web3.0 Bootcamp, co-hosted by Parity, Web3 Foundation, Wanxiang Blockchain Labs and New Chainbase, is a training and incubation program for startups focusing on blockchain innovation. This bootcamp is dedicated to accelerating the arrival of the Web3.0 era by integrating the resources of the Wanxiang Blockchain ecosystem with that of the Polkadot ecosystem.

In his opening remark, Gavin Wood, Founder of Polkadot and Chairman of the Web3 Foundation, greeted the selected teams with a warm welcome and a sincere congratulation. Meanwhile, he also shared the latest development of the Polkadot ecosystem. According to Gavin, XCMP, the system by which parachains can pass messages between each other, has recently been launched and XCM 3.0 is optimizing its compatibility with different bridges. In terms of structural optimization, asynchronous backing is expected to be launched in the next months. It will allow blockchains and parachains to have the same block period and sync seconds as the relay chain. Moreover, a second version of the Polkadot governance primitives will be available to all parachains, which will allow much more inclusive, decentralized, and agile form of governance for all to use.

“Web3.0 Bootcamp has incubated many excellent projects that are frequently mentioned in new reports and noticed in the parachain slot auctions over the past two years,” said Du Yu, Vice Manager of Wanxiang Blockchain and Manager of Wanxiang Blockchain Labs: “The selected teams of this batch covered the tracks that are key to the establishment of Web3 infrastructure, including oracle, API, DID, storage, GameFi, SocialFi,etc. We are proud to work with the Web3 Foundation to contribute to the Web3 ecosystem and are looking forward to communicating with the selected teams in this four-month program and working together to build the Web3 ecosystem.”

Providing valuable instructions including technical guidance, ecosystem resources, mentor courses, PoC assistance, and roadshow opportunities, the Web3.0 Bootcamp I & II have proved instructive and beneficial to dozens of the participating teams in their project development and innovations, such as Acala and Moonbeam. What about 2022 Web 3.0 Bootcamp then?

In her introduction of 2022 Web3.0 Bootcamp, Helena, Head of Parity Asia Pacific pointed out that participating teams will get support and assistance in three folds, which will include financial support such as Web3 Foundation grants and proposals from the treasuries of Polkadot and Kusama, technical support such as Substrate courses and Substrate Builders program, as well as community support such as Decoded and Substrate Evangelist Program.

Wang Rui, researcher at Wanxiang Blockchain Labs elaborated the benefits and courses for teams being part of Web3.0 Bootcamp III. “The Bootcamp consists of the incubation stage and the acceleration stage. The incubation stage will focus on systematic training courses regarding technical development, product operation, financing access, marketing, and human resources that help teams reliably operate their projects. And during the acceleration stage, teams will further receive marketing support that help them truly understand the market as well as users’ needs.”

Following the presentations of the four guests was the exciting session of project demonstrations, in which 11 selected teams introduced their core technologies, preferred tracks in Web3, future plans, and some other key information regarding incubation and their project development. It was a truly successful Web3 feast that helped mentors and teams better know each other and work collaboratively to explore and develop the Web3 ecology.
