Exploring Public Blockchain Technologies — The VENUS Forum of the 8th Global Blockchain Summit Wrapped up
“VENUS: Blockchain Technology” forum, part of the 8th Global Blockchain Summit wrapped up on 21 September, featuring an impressive lineup of speakers from the largest crypto projects and a series of innovative talks and discussions. Speakers include Illia Polosukhin, NEAR Protocol Co-Founder, Björn Wagner, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer at Parity Technologies, Juan Benet, Protocol Labs Founder and CEO, Sergey Nazarov, Co-Founder of Chainlink, DENG Chao, HashKey Capital CEO, and Dominic Williams, Founder and Chief Scientist, DFINITY.
Illia Polosukhin introduced in his keynote NEAR Protocol: Create Without Limits that NEAR Protocol is the open source project that powers the notes, as well as defines how the things work and evolve. “Last year I have showcased we have went from zero from one chart to four shots, and without changing any of the user experience that went really smooth,” said Illia, “Now we are launching transition from adding violators from 100 to 300 and then scaling beyond that.”
One of the main problems with today’s blockchain networks is that they are fragmented and isolated, as was pointed out by Björn Wagner in his speech, and that cross-chain interactions have been largely limited to asset transfers and swaps across bridges that are often centralized and vulnerable to attackers. “So what Web3 needs is a secure common standard for cross-chain interoperability, and that’s exactly what Polkadot provides.” said Björn.
In his keynote Filecoin Master Plan, Juan Benet outlined the future of Filecoin using DAO systems. He described data DAOs as the “governance tooling and systems to be able to use on-chain primitives to govern the how the data gets used, how it gets transformed, and how it is shared amongst users”. He also anticipated these DAO systems will “be able to collect a lot of really valuable data created over time, and then enable it to be transacted and monetized in 2023 and 2024”.
Sergey Nazarov stressed the importance of Web3 in his speech Taking Web3 to the Next Level, saying that it’s fundamentally taking how system works from a place where brands and individual institutions can control everything to a place where cryptographic guarantees and mathematical certainty gives people reliable relationships with peers or relationships with those same institutions. “We’ve been able to expand what the Chainlink network does into the realm of computation, creating one of the most widely used random number generators in the entire blockchain industry and in some specific chains.”
The second day of the event ended up with an illuminating discussion collectively delivered by DENG Chao, Dominic Williams, Illia Polosukhin, and Juan Benet, focusing on the progress and achievements in blockchain industry over the last year.
The 8th Global Blockchain Summit, guided by People’s Government of Hongkou District, Shanghai, will take place from 20–28 September. Nine days of the event will be separated by a lineup of themed forums and a grand opening, each lasting for 2–3 hours. Topics will cover this year’s hottest issues that span from blockchain technology, Layer2, DAO, Web3.0 to privacy preserving, data security, metaverse, carbon neutrality, and IoT.
On the third day of the 8th Global Blockchain Summit we’ll have experts and industry players discuss Layer2. Join in our event and get valuable insights on these issues that will further your understanding of blockchain and other adjacent technologies and space.
